Enabling business solutions in the Digital Dimension

I believe that many of us remember a time when most things were analogue, but we thought we were very hi-tech. Mobile phones were carried as briefcases. The TV series Knight Rider, with David Hasselhoff and the computerized car Kitt, were the most futuristic thing you could imagine. Nowadays, we actually have cars that park themselves and even talk to us.

Today, almost everyone uses loads of digital devices and solutions in their daily life – both at work and in private. But still, I often hear the question ‘What is digitalization, really?’

The first industrial revolution used water and steam power to mechanize production. The second industrial revolution used electric power to create mass production. The third used electronics and information technology to automate production.

Now, a fourth industrial revolution, the digital revolution, is giving billions of people new possibilities through connected mobile devices, enormous processing power and storage capacity, and unlimited access to knowledge. This ongoing digital transformation will highly influence the way we live, work and interact with one another. That is digitalization!

It took thirty years from seeing Michael Knight communicating through his watch, until the first real smart phone was released to the public. With the digital transformation I’m convinced that new technology will develop faster than ever. It will no longer take decades for science fiction devices to become reality.

Nowadays, when data resources literally have exploded, there are so many possibilities to analyze a business. It can also be confusing with very large data sets and various technologies to choose from. There is a risk that you can´t see the forest for all the trees – you get a stroke of information stress. That’s why it’s more important than ever to structure and simplify when working with business intelligence and digital solutions. To focus on what’s most important, what gives the most added value and the larges competitive advantages.
