“Now that we’ve implemented new work methods together with Enfo, in the first development stage in our journey towards Specialist Maintenance, we see that the maintenance capacity in our organisation has increased by no less than an amazing 40%, explains Michael. “And without us having employed any more maintenance staff. The result of this improvement has left us with both higher delivery performance and higher internal efficiency, which is of course appreciated by both the company and each individual,” continues Michael.
“We’ve achieved a much greater understanding as a whole and an enhanced structure. Something I really appreciated is how Enfo has been able to show how we move from words to action. As an individual I set tough demands, I want it to be user-friendly and structured. This was something that Enfo promised me when we started this project, and they really haven’t disappointed me,” continues Michael.
Project manager and the man responsible for delivering the project was Enfo’s Business Developer Tommy Östholm.
“The maintenance organisation at Löfbergs in Karlstad has mapped out a journey from more traditional maintenance to Specialist Maintenance. Their vision is to deliver reliable production at optimal maintenance economy,” explains Tommy.
The journey is divided into three different stages:
1. From urgent to largely planned and preventive
2. 5S Maintenance
3. Specialist Maintenance
- “In the first stage, the work method is developed in the areas of fault report order, plan and prepare, schedule and perform preventive, planned and urgent. This is in order to optimise and lay the foundation for the efficient, structured performance of maintenance,” explains Tommy.
- In the second stage,” continues Tommy, “we optimise all areas of maintenance and put the focus on emphasising the work of maintenance engineers.
- “The third stage of development, which is Specialist Maintenance, puts the focus on leadership and the analysis of maintenance.”
“Michael and Löfbergs have assumed a high level of responsibility themselves in this development journey, and we’ve chosen to coach, train (train the trainer), have developed educational training material and also produced visualisation boards and other graphical material to facilitate both control and follow-up.
“The level of this varies tremendously at the companies we’ve had the benefit of working together with, which means that we adapt according to the customer and make a plan based on the customer’s needs. For us, it’s natural to be proactive and to help the customer achieve the desired result,” explains Tommy.
“The time we’ve freed up in the more efficient maintenance organisation will be very useful now as we move on to the next development stage. I will take with me the positive feeling and of course the excellent results, and I’m already looking forward to taking our preventive maintenance to the next level,” explains Michael, his voice filled with expectation.
- “I’d say that you must dare to take the first step and work systematically. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there are people around with vast experience and knowledge,” concludes Michael.
