IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT
Anna Sarafian has been working in IT Service Management (ITSM) at ENFO for ten years and is looking forward to several more instructive years of helping clients enter the digital dimension.
ITSM is about management, methods, working methods and processes to develop and deliver information and communication technology services.
Anna is originally a teacher of music and mathematics and she worked a number of years in this field before deciding that it was time to move on to something else. Said and done: she got a degree in information systems focusing on ITSM and has continued developing her skills ever since by taking standardised ITSM classes with the goal is of becoming an ITIL expert. ITIL stands for Information Technology Infrastructure Library, an industry standard providing a set of principles for IT service management that focuses on aligning these services with the needs of the business.
“As a consultant, it’s important to stay updated and educated, to use the correct terminology and always stay at the forefront of your field, knowing what’s new and being able to implement newly acquired skills in practice,” says Anna, continuing:
“And I get to do all of that at ENFO! I really appreciate my freedom and the fact that I get to be in charge of my own work and results. It allows me to develop and encourages me to deliver high quality work, focusing on what is best for the client while also having the possibility of maintaining a good balance between work and family.”
Anna has great confidence in the management and enjoys the benefits of a manager who is available to support and back her up. Her manager used to be a consultant himself and therefore has a good understanding of what you appreciate when you spend most of your time with clients.
According to Anna, you get the best of two worlds as a consultant. You get to try on a range of different roles, work with different clients and experience different solutions without changing your job, your manager or your colleagues. Anna is spurred on by the opportunity to apply the experience gained from a client in other projects and with other clients.
“Delivering value and making an impression so that the client then asks to work with me again because I did a good job; that gives a sense of clarity and a desire to constantly deliver quality and not rest on my laurels. An assignment isn’t a right, it’s something you earn,” says Anna.
Over several years now, ENFO has built up a team of skilled project managers with a good reputation in the industry. They also have opportunities to work internationally, for example in India, United Kingdom and Poland.
So what happened to the music, did Anna abandon it completely when information systems entered her life? Of course not, but these days music is more of a hobby and something fun to talk about when she introduces herself. It also contributes to the sense of community at work; Anna actually has a whole group of fans among her colleagues in India, whom she has been working with in the last year. They actively listen to her music and ask for more songs. Thanks to their encouragement, Anna recently put out a new song called “I’ll never let you go”, and you can listen to it here.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Anna recently got a text message from some of her colleagues in Sweden, saying “You have to be the drummer of our band!” She accepted the offer and will make her official debut with the band at the next regional ENFO meeting in Göteborg.
