According to Valmet IT Service Manager Sari Da Conceicao, it is only when you put your IT vendors to the test that you find out how committed they are to their customers. Enfo rose to the challenge and surpassed Valmet’s expectations.
The collaboration between Valmet and Enfo has been a long-lasting partnership. Enfo was responsible for the implementation and continued development of the data warehouse and Cognos reporting solution for Valmet’s Automation Department. Enfo’s solution is used to generate monthly financial and operational reports.
“This service is extremely valuable to us. It is absolutely critical that our reports are accurate and available when we need them, without any unnecessary interruptions. Our business decisions are based primarily on this data, and any smaller problems or issues could quickly snowball into something bigger,” Da Conceicao explains.
Enfo provided Valmet with a comprehensive package of best practices for managing their bespoke solution.

Competition is the key to finding the best performers
Valmet and Enfo’s collaboration was put to the test when Valmet decided to concentrate its pool of IT vendors. Enfo’s solution was part of a larger collection of reporting solutions which Valmet now wanted to enhance and centralize further.
“This was followed by a period where we had to work closely with both Enfo and multiple other companies, as migrating such a large solution was no simple feat. After a period of carefully reassessing and realigning our service solutions, we decided to keep the reporting system we use for our Automation Department at Enfo, as Enfo’s expertise with these types of solutions is world class.”
Some service providers can lose their motivation when the future of a partnership is put into question. Enfo, however, rose to the challenge and never wavered in its motivation or the quality of its service.

A smooth return to normalcy
Valmet and Enfo have now resumed their usual operations, and according to Da Conceicao, their partnership is better than ever.
“Our collaboration is based on the best possible processes and operating practices. The foundation of our approach is built on a model that is as unbureaucratic as possible, so that there are no unnecessary obstacles in our way.”
Valmet also wishes to commend Enfo for its flexibility. While their collaboration agreement includes the usual clauses pertaining to response and on-call times, Enfo has been more than willing to go above and beyond for their customer’s benefit.
“If there’s ever an issue with our system in the early morning or on the weekend, it’s usually fixed by the time the on-call period is set to begin. We may never even notice anything on our end.”
