The data center is crucial for Scania's business – "As an Enfo customer, I can rest easy"
Scania is one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, and marine and industrial engines. Scania Finland's critical business applications, such as the sales and warehouse management software, run in a local data center. Here, the company relies on Enfo's data center and expertise.
Scania Finland's IT operations have been undergoing a vast transformation recently, as services and operations have been restructured and experts with tacit knowledge have retired from the IT team. As hardware and software were reaching the end of their life cycle and the company's own data center was no longer able to meet the requirements, the company put the data center services out to tender and ultimately chose Enfo as their service provider.
"I sleep much better at night knowing that the servers are in a safe place and well maintained. We now receive, for example, updates through Enfo as a service, which is a significant benefit as far as resources are concerned," says Scania Finland's IT Manager Tomi Lehtinen. "An outdated data center poses great risks – at worst, our entire business operations could come to a halt if business-critical applications were to stop working. These applications are, after all, at the very heart of our business," he says.

"Through the tendering process, we decided to go with Enfo, because Enfo's offer was good and comprehensive in its entirety. The wide range of services they have to offer has also played an important role for us, as Enfo has been able to meet our diverse needs on a broad front," Lehtinen says.
The service center took a leap forward
In addition to data center services, Enfo provides Scania Finland with a service center service. Scania's own service center had thousands of tickets every year, some of which were not recorded into the system at all. The service center service could not be provided through a calling system or as a self-service. This has now changed.

"With Enfo we have built a good and systematic model, and we're able to ensure fast response times for our end users. We can measure the service level at all times, and Enfo's service desk has received good reviews from our users. We have taken a clear step forward in our operations," Lehtinen says.
Lehtinen has been happy with Enfo's initiative on both capacity services and service desk. "Whenever Enfo finds that something could be done better, their experts are actively in contact with us. Enfo's personnel is knowledgeable and competent, and help has so far been available for any technical matter."
"The capacity transfer we executed in spring 2020 was a big project," Lehtinen continues. "It was one of the best IT projects I've ever seen – everything was done assertively, according to plan and on schedule. Deviations were handled expertly and appropriately. I was very happy with the project."

Lehtinen advises those planning similar projects to find the service provider's project manager a partner from the customer's own organization. "We had one full-time project manager who turned out to be an extremely valuable asset. There is a lot to be done in many different directions in order to finish the project and ensure that business operations continue seamlessly at the same time," Lehtinen concludes.
